Powerful Photography and Media in South Africa
Explore captivating imagery from the perspectives of four generations of artists who primarily lived in South Africa during apartheid (1948-1994). The title of the book: Darkroom carries both a literal and metaphorical meaning as it relates to the actual place photography is made and seen as well as the artistic isolation created by apartheid.
The Author, Tosha Grantham served as the Assistant Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, VA for 6 years (2000 -2006).
